People who help us
This week we have been
Learning about the jobs you do as a postman. We have been writing postcards and writing our own letters, we have been posting them into the postbox. Next week we will be exploring delivering these letters to different areas of the classroom.
Our rhyme this week was Hickory Dickory Dock. The children have had fun using the toy clock and a mouse to retell the rhyme, we also sang a song during our phonics called Hickory Dickory dong. We spoke about rhyming words and we also looked at the numbers on the clock. We have also been making mice on the play-dough table, building our own clocks using the building blocks and explored playing musical instruments to this song Hickory Dickory dock.
In maths this week we have been looking at coins. We have explored the 1p coin, the 2p coin, the 5p coin and the 10p coin. The children have been identifying the coins and sorting them into groups. we have also been learning about the number eight.
In science this week we have been re-visiting high and low. We watched Kit and Pup and explored what high was and what low was. We enjoyed making high and low movements with our bodies and high and low sounds without mouths.
In RE this week we have taken part in our remembrance assembly. We took along our cross and wreath and we all wore our poppy’s. We will always remember them. We have also been exploring and learning about your church. we have looked at pictures and a model of the church to see what’s inside. We also know that a church always has a cross on it so when we are outside we know which buildings are churches.
This week we have read the story The colour monster. The colour monster has many colours and many feelings. We were looking at what each colour means, the children drew and coloured their own colour monsters, all feelings are ok!
Next week we will be
- Learning about a firefighter and the jobs they do.
- Sorting objects into groups and learning the number nine.
- Learning about holy communion and holy bread.
- Continue our learning about the colour monster.
- Exploring long and short.
- Exploring the rhyme Jack and Jill.

We would like to send a small reminder about how important it is for the children to change their reading books. Not many children are changing their books and it’s such an important part of the children’s development. We encourage you to change your reading book as much as possible, we are happy to change books every day if the children are reading their books at home. Please remember to put them in the yellow basket outside and we will change them.
Just a little reminder about the children’s green rhyme books. We would like them returned by by Wednesday each week so we can prepare them for the following week. Please also encourage the children to colour the sheet after they have read the rhyme.
Thank you for your support Mrs Herne and Mrs Cini
