Transport – in the sky

This week we have been

This week we have been exploring the transport that you would use if you were flying in the sky. We read the story whatever next we had lots of fun pretending to be baby bear and travelling to the moon in our own rocket. We had boots, a space helmet and we even took Teddy and a picnic with us to the moon.  We made a very big hot air balloon and we put passengers in our big aeroplane. We have also been exploring our sky transport in shaving foam which we pretended to be clouds, it was so much fun! We have been exploring space using our rockets and spaceships.

Our rhyme this week was ‘Hey diddle diddle’. We hope you enjoy reading the rhyme in your rhyme book. We had lots of fun playing musical instruments to the rhyme.

In maths this week we had great fun exploring 2-D shapes. We named them from the shape bag we then went on a hunt around the classroom to find different to the shapes in objects we use. We also drew our own shapes in the math’s area and made our own space rockets writing the numbers from 10 to 0.  We also learnt the number 12 using the number blocks.

In RE this week we have been learning how God made the sky. We have started reading the creation story, on the first day God made the sky. He made day and night and he put the sun, the moon, the stars and clouds in the sky. We will be continuing this story next week.

In science this week we have been exploring magnets. We have been thinking about magnetic and non-magnetic and repel and attract. We learnt that metal things attract to magnets and then we explored our classroom to see what things were magnetic and non-magnetic.  Some of us could also say the name of the material and why something was non magnetic.

Next week we will be

  • Learning about transport on the land, focusing on trains.
  • Continuing the creation story, thinking about god making the land.
  • Thinking about and creating patterns using 2D shapes.
  • Learning about flat and steep.
