This week we have been

This week we have been learning about tigers. We have been reading the story the ‘Tiger who came to tea’. We have been making our own Tigers, exploring Tigers in the construction area and we even had a ‘Tiger who came to tea’ tea party!! The children really enjoyed dressing up as tigers for the day and having our tiger tea together outside. The children buttered their own bread with a choice of butter, jam or cheese and they had juice too. Mrs Huter also did some face painting!

In maths this week we have been counting using tigers and we have also started grouping numbers into 10 and adding more. We have also been reading Barty’s scarf  looking at length. We have been talking about short and long and making short and tall towers using the cubes.

In RE this week we have been learning about Islam. Miss Ali came to visit us and she was explaining a little bit about her religion and how she prays. The children saw her prayer mat and they got to try on some of the headscarves. she then stayed for a little while and played with the children. This showed the children that although Miss Ali wears a scarf on her head it makes her no different to anybody else and we are all the same.

This week we have continued our road safety learning. We revisited ‘stop, look and listen before you cross the road, hold hands, use the zebra crossing, be bright be seen and wear your seat belt when you’re in the car. This week we have been looking at stranger danger, who is a stranger? who is a safer stranger? Where is a safe place to go to if we need help?

Next week we will be

  • Reading Goldilocks and the three bears, Chicken Licken, The Enormous turnip and my cat likes to hide in boxes.
  • Learning about size and heavy and light.
  • Revisiting Noah’s Ark

As you can tell by this week the weather changes day by day. Please do ensure that the children have their coats when they come to school just in case the weather is not that warm and we would like to go outside.

Friday, the 14th of June will be our class assembly you are all invited to come and watch, we hope to start at around 9:15 am and should be about 20 minutes.

Thank you for your support, Mrs Herne
