Fantasy

This week we have been:

Reading the story ‘On the way home’. The little girl had an eventful journey home, she made up lots of different stories about how she got her bad knee. This week we have been making up our own stories by deciding who they would bump into and where they were going.

We have been thinking about rhyme this week by reading the stories ‘One mole digging a hole’ and ‘Pass the jam Jim’. We have been picking out the words that rhyme and thinking about the words that do not rhyme. We have also been learning a new rhyme this week called ‘Molly golly’. We hope you enjoy this in your rhyme books. The children have also really enjoyed singing 5 cheeky monkeys!

In math’s this week we have been thinking about heavier and lighter. We have been exploring different things to see whether they’re heavier or lighter than each other. We have also been using the scales and talking about more means heavier and less means lighter.

With kit and pup this week we have been exploring wet and dry and open and closed. We had buckets in the water and buckets in the sand and we were talking about what it’s like if it’s wet and what it’s like if it’s dry, we also used heavier and lighter in this learning. As the weather is getting warmer we might be packing a case ready to go on holiday so we have been thinking about what would fit into the case to make sure that it closed but we put too much in our case and the case kept on opening!

We re-visited Road safety this week. We have been re-capping over stop, look, listen, before you cross the street, hold hands, buckle up if you’re in the car and use the zebra crossing when you can. We have been helping SuperCat teach Sam about what he should do when he is next to the road, we also used the Signs and the zebra crossing when we were outside this week.

In science this week we have continued and learning about caterpillars and butterflies. Our five caterpillars have now turned into five cocoons and we are watching them to see what happens. We hope that we will get five beautiful butterflies, it will take about 14 days and so far they have been in the cocoons for seven days! We moved the cocoons into their butterfly home.

Next week we will be:

  • Reading the story the hungry caterpillar and retelling the story.
  • Learning about symmetry.
  • Learning about Pentecost.
  • Exploring the life-cycle of a caterpillar into a butterfly.
