Traditional tales – The wolf!!
This week we have been:
Reading stories that have a wolf in them and thinking about different wolf behaviour. We read ‘A wolf at the door’ ‘Mr Wolfs pancakes’ and ‘Mr wolf moves in’ both of these stories had kind wolves. We also read ‘The three little pigs’ story and that had a bad wolf. We have also been designing our own wolves!
In maths this week we have been learning about symmetry. We linked this to ‘The very hungry caterpillar story’ and made symmetrical butterflies.
This week we also read the ‘The very hungry caterpillar’. We have been learning about caterpillars and butterflies because we received some live caterpillars in the post! We are going to look after them and watch them grow and change. We also made a very large class caterpillar, some butterflies an egg on a leaf and some cocoons!
In RE this week we read a story from the bible called ‘Jonah and the whale’ it was a strange story but we learnt we must listen to God.
Next week we will be:
- Reading and exploring the traditional tales ‘The three little pigs/The three Billy goats gruff/Goldilocks and the three bears’.
- Learning about size.
- Exploring force.
Home learning ideas:
- Do you know these sounds? a, m, s, d. Can you think of something that has this sound at the beginning? Can you write this word in your green book?
- Can you make a symmetrical picture/construction at home?
Thank you for your ongoing support, Mrs Herne.
