Chinese New Year

This week we have been:

Learning and celebrating Chinese new year. We read stories about Chinese new year, read the Chinese zodiac story and acted it out using masks and puppets, danced with the class dragon, made our own dragons and lanterns, practised writing Chinese symbols and numbers, explored noodles in the water tray and enjoyed our Chinese new year celebration during our hall time. We have also been making fortune cookies at the playdough table and hope you enjoy the ones we have sent home. We would also like to wish you good fortune for the year to come with your special red envelopes. 

We have also been learning about ‘The Three Hierarchs’. We learnt about who the are and what they do. We painted and drew pictures of the three hierarch’s and learned their names using the icon to help us.

Next week we will be:

• Learning about Winter
• Learning about Valentines day
• Exploring melting and freezing
• Revisiting 2D shapes
