Book Bags: Please ensure that the children bring their book bag to school every day, as in addition to being a means of transporting reading materials it is a valuable method of communication. We encourage the children to give important notes from their parents directly to their class teacher or teaching assistant.
Uniform: Please ensure that all items of clothing are clearly labelled with your child’s name. Children will need their P.E. kits in school on PE days. Our P.E. days are Tuesday and Friday. Please encourage children to be independent dressers at home, as these skills will be helpful at school.
Reading: We change the children’s reading books daily, so if they have finished their book please ensure that the children put their home reading record and reading book in the basket every morning to be changed. Please support your child with reading at home.
Phonics: The Phonics scheme we follow is Read, Write, Inc. HFW, Year 1 Spellings and RWI sounds (please see below) these activities are ongoing for the year and not part of the weekly homework which is set on Mathletics and Spellodrome.
Handwriting: Please look at the letters sheet attached to see how we write each letter. We would recommend that you use this sheet to help your child when he/ she is completing any written work at home.
Homework: Homework will be set every Friday (published in our class blog). Please see below.
Learning: Our main topic this term is: Which birds and plants would Little Red Riding Hood find in our parks?
Next week in Literacy we will be focussing on writing poems and recognising the features of a poem. For example rhyming words and alliteration

As part of a class project we will be making a Space Ship. Please would you be able to donate any empty milk cartons, cereal boxes, boxes that you do need 🙂
Please can children learn the spellings set on Spellodrom from the list which is located on the Home Learning Template. There will be a mini spelling test every Friday with these words.
