Evia – Next Week’s Learning 15.2.2016

Evia – Investigations Week 15.2.2016

Book Bags: Please ensure that the children bring their book bag to school every day, as in addition to being a means of transporting reading materials it is a valuable method of communication. We encourage the children to give important notes from their parents directly to their class teacher or teaching assistant.

Uniform: Please ensure that all items of clothing are clearly labelled with your child’s name. Children will need their P.E. kits in school on PE days. Our P.E. days are Tuesday and Friday. Please encourage children to be independent dressers at home, as these skills will be helpful at school.

Reading: We change the children’s reading books daily, so if they have finished their book please ensure that the children put their home reading record and reading book in the basket every morning to be changed. Please support your child with reading at home.

Phonics: The Phonics scheme we follow is Read, Write, Inc. HFW, Year 1 Spellings and RWI sounds (please see below) these activities are ongoing for the year and not part of the weekly homework which is set on Mathletics and Spellodrome.

Learning: Next week is Investigations Week.

We will be focusing on the book ‘Journey’ by Aaron Becker. The children will complete a variety of activities such as investigate materials and shapes to make a boat that floats; write a story about Kipper, Biff and Chip going on a magical journey; find totals and give change using money; design a magical boat.

Please can all parents practise the 2, 5 and 10 times tables at home with their children.

Thank you for your support!

Have a lovely weekend.
