Evia – Next Week’s Learning 18.03.2016
Book Bags: Please ensure that the children bring their book bag to school every day, as in addition to being a means of transporting reading materials it is a valuable method of communication. We encourage the children to give important notes from their parents directly to their class teacher or teaching assistant.
Uniform: Please ensure that all items of clothing are clearly labelled with your child’s name. Children will need their P.E. kits in school on PE days. Our P.E. days are Tuesday and Friday. Please encourage children to be independent dressers at home, as these skills will be helpful at school.
Reading: We change the children’s reading books daily, so if they have finished their book please ensure that the children put their home reading record and reading book in the basket every morning to be changed. Please support your child with reading at home.
Phonics: The Phonics scheme we follow is Read, Write, Inc. HFW, Year 1 Spellings and RWI sounds (please see below) these activities are ongoing for the year and not part of the weekly homework which is set on Mathletics and Spellodrome.
Handwriting: Please look at the letters sheet attached to see how we write each letter. We would recommend that you use this sheet to help your child when he/ she is completing any written work at home.
Homework: Homework will be set every Friday (published in our class blog). Please see below.
Learning: Our main topic this half term is: Which Birds and Plants would Little Red Riding Hood find in our Parks? We will be identifying a variety of common, wild and green plants and animals including birds.
Next week in Literacy we will be focusing on the story of Little Red Riding Hood. We will retell the story using story language.
Next week in Numeracy we will be focusing on ordering and comparing numbers to 100. We will be finding ways to compare objects by measuring them.
Next week in RE we will be learning about the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary.
Next week in PE we will be focusing on Basketball and Mini Tennis.
As part of a class project we will be making a spacehip. Please would you be able to donate any empty milk cartons, cereal boxes, boxes that you don’t need.
Please can all parents practise the 2, 5 and 10 times tables at home with their children and the 3, 4, 6 once children have learnt 2, 5, 10.
Thank you for your support!
Have a lovely weekend.
