Today we would like you to watch this episode of alphablocks and practice reading the words as they come up;

We would like you today to create some flash cards. Please work with your child to sound out and write please allow your child to write these focusing on letter formation) up to 6  CVC words, either from the video or remembering some of the other words they have learnt this week. Please then place these words around the room in clear sight and ask your child to run to a particular word, e.g. ‘ Can you find the word cat’ Have your child run to the word and the say aloud c-a-t cat.

Please review the two digraph sounds learnt previously ‘sh’ and ‘ch’ Please create two flash cards by writing these two digraphs in large writing and keep these as you will be adding to them and also using them in lessons to come.

Now create a third flash card with the ‘th’ sound on it. Play a digraph finding game, place the 3 digraphs made in different locations and have your child run to the correct sound. This will ensure that your child is familiar with these 3 sounds. Now work your way through the ‘th’ sound booklet below.

Before learning todays new sound please review all digraphs taught using flash cards made yesterday. Create a flash card of yesterdays trigraph and add this.

Today we will be recapping all of our addition and subtraction. Please review this weeks learning.

Work your way through the attached sheet and questions, you can choose to either use the number lines or physical objects in your home to help; adding more or taking them away to help find the answer of the question.

Today we will be thinking about different emotions and how they effect us.

Watch the video below with your child and ask them to guess how the child in the video is feeling, ask them to think about the following questions;

  • How is she feeling?
  • How did you know this?
  • What did her face look like?
  • What was she doing?
  • Have you ever felt like this before?

Give your child a mirror and ask them to look into it and make different faces e.g  sad, happy, angry; have them look at how the different features of their face change with each feeling.

Use the mirror and the worksheet below to draw faces of these different feelings.
