Kefallonia WB 19/10/15

This week in Kefallonia class, we will learning all about inclusion using the book The Rainbow Fish.

We will be learning all about the importance of kindness and sharing, and why we should celebrate our differences. In Literacy, we will be thinking about what makes us special, and will use this as a stimulus to complete sentences about ourselves.

In Phonics we will be continuing with our sounds, learning o, c, k and u. We’ll have lots of fun actions and Jolly Phonics songs to help us memorise these. Kefallonia will be continuing with their blending and spelling of CVC (consonant vowel consonant) words too.

In Maths we are continuing on our work with numbers to 20, and will be using our own classmates to count up different numbers of children. We are going to have lots of number matching and writing activities out too.

In RE we are learning all about the changes God made in the autumn, and we will be making a collage tree using our hand-prints as the leaves.

As it is Inclusion week, we will also be looking at the topics of road safety and e-safety. we will be thinking about how best to safe safe when out and about on the pavements, and in our homes using technology. We will also be learning about Black History as part of Black History Month.

Parent’s evening:

I am looking forward to seeing you all on Parent’s evening on either Tuesday or Thursday. As there is no waiting space by Kefallonia Class, On Tuesday Parents will be asked to wait in the corridor outside Skiathos class until collected by the class teacher. If you need to change your appointment or need to check when it is, please see the office as they can schedule this for you. If you have any other queries, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Pink Breakfast:

I hope to see you all at breakfast bright and early on Wednesday morning! Don’t forget, the children can also come in wearing a pink or red top for a donation of £1. Please note, for early years, the bottom half of their uniform should still be worn- so school trousers and school shoes still please.

Reading books:

All the children should now be going home with reading books. These will be changed weekly. Please make sure the children leave the books in their bags on the day that their books are due to be changed. If you wish to update their diaries with information about how they read, what they enjoyed or any difficulties they encountered- this is always welcomed!
