Traditional tales – The Three Little Pigs

This week we have been learning about:

We have been reading the story of the three little pigs. Mrs Herne told us the story of the three pigs and we have been telling our versions all around the nursery, in the sand, with the construction and outside using the masks. We think the big bad wolf is very mean!

We have been learning about numbers 1-5. We have been counting to 10 and then looking at what numbers 1-5 look like. We have been using number hats and counting how many spots are on each one. We have been matching numbers on cards to numbers on our hats. Using the video we looked at the meaning of numbers, for example number 10 and 10 dinosaurs.

We have been learning all about the autumn time. We spoke about the creation story and looked at how God made the world and then made Autumn. We have been looking at what changes happen during autumn and looking at autumn around us. We have had great fun playing with the many leaves in the mud kitchen! We also made our own autumn tree using our hands. Can you spot the autumn colours we used?

We have been having fun making funny voices, and we haven been continueing to make different sounds using our musical instruments. We have been using red and green cards to know when we stop and start playing.

Next week we will be learning about:

  • The Goldilocks and the three bears story.
  • Looking at sizes such as big, medium, small.
  • Following instructions and listening carefully during our phonics sessions.
  • Continuing to look at autumn.

How you can help at home:

  • Please continue mark making at home, every little helps.
  • Please have fun exploring Purple mash, your login details are in your homework book.
  • Recognising numbers out of sequence, up to 5 then to 10.

Its been great looking at your childs home learning and reading records! You can bring them in when you are ready, just pop them in the yellow and green baskets and we will change books and mark homework each day.

Please keep the proud clouds coming in, please cut them out and pin them to the board outside. We do have some outside on the table when you need more. We really enjoy sharing this moments with the children, please look out for their special stickers.

Lastly, you may have noticed that staff have been using iphones and ipads while in the nursery setting, this is a device we use to take observations of the children’s learning and monitor thier development. If you have any questions please come and ask.

Thank you for your ongoing support.
