Samos Class Blog

Hello!                                                                                                                                                                             Two weeks in and Samos class have settled back into the school year nicely.

We’ve had a great few weeks and have started on some brilliant learning.  In numeracy we have been looking at rounding and place value, as well as conducting a shape search in our classroom and using our knowledge of triangles to solve some problems.

Literacy this week has focused on stories involving dilemmas. The children have enjoyed hearing the story The Iron Man and have produced some writing identifying and providing solutions to the various dilemmas in the story. The children particularly enjoyed our whole class farmer conference where we discussed in role (as farmers) how we could deal with the Iron Man and stop him eating our tractors!

Topic learning has focused on Ancient Greece with the children exploring how the Greek Empire changed over time and producing some human timelines.

We have celebrated the Elevation of the Holy Cross and considered what we can learn from the story today.

Next week we will continue our topic learning about Ancient Greece and begin looking at habitats in Science.

Several of the children in Samos class have shown a keen interest in plants, and so we have planted some in our classroom. The children have been keeping an eye on them; observing and recording their progress.

Looking good so far!

Our seeds have germinated and are looking good.
