Spetses Week ending 02.05.25
This week in English, we began with freeze framing; where we explored the thoughts and feelings of the characters in Hermelin the Mouse Detective. Then we wrote diary entries as Hermelin. We also worked in groups to perform the retelling of the story; using Story mapping we worked as a team to orally retell the story and performed to the rest of the class. Finally, we planned new adventures for Hermelin and his new partner, Emily, solving new mysteries. We look forward to writing these up, next week.
In maths, we completed our unit on ‘Shape’. We learnt about polygons and their properties, we used this understanding to draw polygons. We also revisited lines of symmetry and deepened our understanding in completing shapes and intricate symmetrical designs. Next week we will begin a unit on decimal numbers.
In History, for our unit ‘What did the Ancient Egyptians believe’, we learnt more about the Egyptians beliefs in the afterlife. We learnt about the reasons they made pyramids and how they were built. We also learnt about their ‘Book of the Dead’.
