Spetses week ending 06.06.25
Welcome back!
In English, we began a poetry unit; Kenning poems. The children really enjoyed reading and performing poems by Joseph Coelho. From these lessons, they moved on to explore kennings; they created kennings to describe people, animals and variety of favourite activities. They finished the week with creating and publishing Kenning poems.
In Maths, we began a new unit; time. In the first steps, the children learnt to read the time more accurately on an analogue clock; telling the time to 5 minutes, telling the time to the minute. Then they focused on reading time on a digital clock and finally understanding a.m. and p.m. times through out the day.
In Science, we began a unit ‘Making Connections’ in the first lesson, the children recapped classification and states of matter.
In RE, we focused on the feast day celebration of Pentecost. The children, carefully observed the symbols and images in the icon and how they help us to understand the message of this feast in our lives today.
Home Learning
Please see the links below for this week’s home learning.
I have included a spelling sheet as extra support.
Remember to keep working on times table knowledge and number bonds – the basis for the more complex mathematics.
For handwriting we follow the Nelson scheme, it supports correct formation of letters and helps to keep cursive writing neat and legible.
