Spetses Week ending 09.05.25

This week, in English, we began a new unit focused on instruction writing. We read ‘Wolf in The Snow’ by Matthew Cordell and ‘ Instructions’ by Neil Gaiman. These texts, helped us to focus on imperative verbs, preposition, adverbs and direct speech in instructions. We ended the week with a planning session for the Instructional text we will write next week.

In Maths, we started a new unit on decimal numbers. We made a good start; linking our previous learning on fractions to write tenths as decimal numbers. We were able to use this growing understanding, to discuss the place value of each digit within a decimal number; 2 wholes and 3 tenths is 3.2 as a decimal number.

In Science, we  started a unit ‘ Sound and Vibration’. We learnt to identify the sources of sound and to describe it sound using the correct scientific vocabulary. We conducted investigations and learnt how to test volume using an online sound meter.

In RE, Year 3 learnt about ways we can show we are Christians through acts of kindness and Year 4 learnt about Paul and modern day missionaries.
