Welcome to Reception, Kefallonia Class!

Kefallonia Class Blog This Half Term (Autumn 1)

We hope that you find this information helpful. If you have any concerns or further questions, please do come and see us or make an appointment to meet with us after school.

Book Bags: Please ensure that the children bring their book bag to school every day, as in addition to being a means of transporting reading materials it is a valuable method of communication. We encourage the children to give important notes from their parents directly to their class teacher or teaching assistant.

Uniform: Please ensure that all items of clothing are clearly labelled with your child’s name. Children will need their P.E. kits in school on our P.E. day. Our P.E. day is Friday. Please encourage children to be independent dressers at home, as these skills will be helpful at school.

Reading: Your child’s reading book will be changed weekly depending on which group they are:

Monday-Sharks

Tuesday-Crabs

Wednesday-Octopuses

Thursday-Puffer Fish

Friday-Turtles

Please support your child with reading at home. Children should be reading daily and should draw a picture in their reading diaries.

Homework: Please support your child and help them to practise writing their name using the following handwriting script.

Additionally please support your child with their letter and number formation. Practise counting to 10 using various objects. Once your child is confident with numbers to 10 move on to 20 or 30.

Please look at the letter and number sheets attached to see how we write each letter and number.

RWI Alphabet

Numerals 0-9

Learning: Our topics this half term are ‘All About Me’ and ‘Ancient Greece.’

We will be learning about ourselves, our families, our friends and school. We will focus on letter and number formation and counting to 10 and 20.

In class children will be exploring different facts about Ancient Greece.

Thank you for your support!
