Year 4 blog 21November 2016

Welcome back to the year 4 blog!  The countdown to Christmas goes on!

In numeracy this week we are preparing ourselves for those teenage shopping sprees or maybe just the middle aged weekly shop in Tesco.  Yes, we’re adding and subtracting decimal numbers including money.  We’re also working out real life word problems involving money using our adding, subtracting, and in some cases, multiplying skills.  We’re also going to sort data using a Venn Diagram.

We will have a largely grammar focus in Literacy this week.  We’ll be writing in the first person narrative, using and identifying the past tense and practicing our use of adverbs, conjunctions and prepositions to show the passing of time.  We will also be researching and collecting evidence in preparation for writing a report about the Romans next week.

In R.E. we will be celebrating the special day of the 21st of November when the Virgin Mary entered the Temple.  At the age of only three Mary’s parents gave her to the Temple to be educated in the ways of God.  We will be reflecting and empathising with Mary and her parents and considering why they made such a decision.

This week’s spelling are expression, discussion, confession, permission, admission, possession, fruit, breath, complete, continue.

Also, please make sure you listen to your child read for at least twenty minutes a day.
