This past week we have been learning about People Who Help Us, Bonfire Night and Remembrance Sunday.

In Literacy the children wrote shopping lists. We learnt about why we celebrate bonfire night and the children created firework pictures. In Phonics we learnt the sounds I, h,j,v and x.

In Maths we used real money to pay for food from our shop.

Next week we will be thinking about People Who Help us in the Post Office, we will be writing letters and continuing to learn about money in our Maths lessons.

In Phonics we will be beginning to spell our own CVC words using all the letters that we have learnt.

In RE we will be learning about Gods house. On Monday we will be taking part in a Remembrance Day assembly where we will be showing everyone the beautiful poppy wreath that we have made.

This past week we have been learning about Autumn, Diwali and thinking about people who help us at school.

In Literacy we have been describing Autumn objects.  We learnt about Diwali and made Diva pots. In Phonics we learnt the sounds u, b, f, e and l.

In Maths we continued to count objects and matched them to the correct numeral.

Next week we will be thinking about people who help us in shops, we will be writing shopping lists and learning about money in our maths lessons.

In Phonics we will be covering the sounds l, h, j, v and x.

In Re we will be teaching the children about Remembrance Sunday and talking about the significance of wearing Poppies.

This past week has been inclusion week;

In Literacy we have been looking at the book Dream big little leader, we learnt about Martin Luther King and the dream that he had. We spoke about our own dreams and what we would like to be when we are older. We drew pictures and tried to use our sounds to label them.

We focused on an artist called Alma Woodsey Thomas, we recreated some of her artwork and enjoyed printing using rectangle shapes.

An athlete visited us on Thursday and enjoyed taking part in a workshop with him were we did lots of exercise and jumping.

We have also learnt about; how to stay safe online, road safety and being kind to our friends.

 

Week Beginning – 28.10.2019

When we return after half term our topic of People who help us will continue, we will be learning about schools. We will be thinking about our own school, who can help us in school and the jobs of different people around the school.

Literacy-In Literacy the children will be learning to use the sounds that they have learnt to begin to write some words they shall be practicing writing CVC words to label pictures.

Maths- the children will be learning how to use a tally chart to collect information about their friends.

Phonics- after half term the children will be learning the sounds; u,b,f,e and l. They will also be attempting to use their sounds to blend and segment words.

RE-  We will be learning about how “ God Loves Our Family”

 

Please note

  • As the weather is now becoming colder please ensure that your child has a coat in school each day, as we go outside everyday.
  • Please can you ensure that your child has spare clothes in a labelled bag so we can change them if they have an accident.
  • Your child will be bringing home some home learning for the half term. Home learning will be given out on a Thursday and should be returned to school on a Tuesday.

This past week we learnt about how we can work together in a team.

In Literacy the children enjoyed listening to the story of the 3 Little Pigs and started to identify rhyming words.

During our phonics lessons the children learnt the sounds n,p, g and o. They all tried very hard to write each sound and think of objects associated to each letter.

In Maths the children identified how many items were in a set

On Wednesday in Re the children learnt how God loves us all.

 

Week Beginning – 14.10.2019

This week will be inclusion week.

In Literacy we will be reading the book Dream Big Little Leader.

In phonics we will be learning the letter sounds c,k,u , b and f.

We are also going to visited by an Olympic Athlete on Thursday 17th October.

  • On Tuesday 15TH October you are all invited to attend our Pink Breakfast in the school hall.
  • As the weather is now becoming colder please ensure that your child has a coat in school each day, as we go outside everyday.
  • Please can you ensure that your child has spare clothes in a labelled bag so we can change them if they have an accident.

This past week we continued to learn all about ourselves and focused on how to keep ourselves healthy.

In Literacy the children enjoyed listening to the story Dr Dog and talking about why it is important to wash your hands.

During our phonics lessons the children learnt the sounds m, a, s,t and d. they all tried very hard to write each sound and think of objects associated to each letter.

In Maths the children matched numerals to quantities.

On Wednesday the children had their first RE lesson and learnt about St Cyprian.

Week Beginning – 07.10.2019

This week we will learning about builders.

In Literacy we will be reading the Three little Pigs and identifying rhyming words.

In phonics we will be learning the letter sounds I, n ,p ,g and o.

In Maths we will be identifying how many objects are in a set.

In RE we will be learning how God loves us.
