Zakynthos Class Home Learning – Week Ending 06.03.26
Dear Parents, Carers,
This week in English, the children have focused on adding to their personal narrative. They have worked on writing a few personal life experiences and then choosing one to be there main narrative. They also focused on writing some dialogue, using speech marks on what was said between them and the other person, adding any feelings that they had felt during that experience.
In Maths, we have started our new unit ‘Mass and Capacity’ and they learnt about ‘Using Scales’, to ‘Measure Mass in grams’ and to ‘Measure Mass in Kilograms and Grams.
In Science, we continued with our unit Light and Shadow and looked at ‘What is reflection?’ and explored how light is reflected from different surfaces and how this may affect the reflection seen. They had fun looking at themselves in a mirror, pulling a silly face and seeing their reflection. They used the mirror also to watch their partner’s silly face and to look at something behind them. We then discussed as a class what was happening, emphasising that light reflects or bounces off the surface and a reflection is an image on a mirror or other reflective (shiny) surface.
In RE, we looked at another faith, Sikhism and the children wrote facts about a very special, famous Gurdwara called The Golden Temple and the other lesson was to compare the different faith symbols between Sikhism and Greek Orthodox faith.
In PSHE, we looked at First Aid: Bites and Stings, and what to do if someone has been stung or bitten.
Please find the home learning attached using the link below and we have also included a spelling sheet as extra support.
