Zakynthos Class Home Learning – Week ending 16.01.26
Dear Parents, Carers,
This week in English, the children planned their ideas for their very own setting and character in ‘Wonderland’. Using their setting maps, they planned their setting in greater detail including planning what their characters might say by adding dialogue. They had to use the five senses, the power of 3 (adjectives), prepositional phrases and other techniques to tell the reader where things are and when they happened and learnt why paragraphs are used to organise ideas around a theme.
In Maths, we continued with the next steps which were Multiply a 2-digit number by a 1-digit number – with exchange, Link multiplication and division, Divide a 2-digit number by a 1-digit number – no exchange, Divide a 2-digit number by a 1-digit number – flexible partitioning and Divide a 2-digit number by a 1-digit number – with remainders.
In RE, we focused on ‘We Believe God wants us to Serve’ and the second lesson was based on ‘We Believe Jesus Taught us to Serve People in Need’.
In PSHE, we continued with the next lesson on our topic ‘Health and Wellbeing’. We looked at ‘Relaxation: Stretches’ and the children had to practice an animal stretch, such as a tortoise stretch, a giraffe stretch, a cat stretch, a butterfly stretch, and then after every pose, they had to draw a stick figure of the stretch on their ‘Animal Stretches’ sheet. When all poses were done, I would call out an animal’s name and they would show the stretch using their drawings to help them remember. What fun they had!
Please find the home learning attached using the link below and we have also included a spelling sheet as extra support.
