This week in year 5…
In English, we started our unit on writing to inform – Non Chronological Reports. Over the week, we explored the features of ‘The World of the Unknown: Monsters’ by Carey Miller and ‘The Book of Mythical Beasts and Magical Creatures’ by Stephen Krensky. We used this research to outline the purpose & audience for non-chronological reports and to then revise different writing devices to create creature descriptions to engage the reader.
In Maths, our unit is ‘ place Value’. Over the course of the week we’ve covered Roman Numerals up to 10,000 and place value of numbers up to 1,000,000. Our home learning this week will give us more practice on theses steps.
In RE, we focused on the feast day ‘The Nativity of the Theotokos’ and the first lesson in the Unit ‘ We grow by worshipping God’.
