The School Day

School Day

The school day starts at 8.40am and ends at 3.30pm (Nursery is 8.50am to 11.50am). The school gates will open at 8.40am and senior members of staff will be available in the playground. Children must be in their classroom by 8.50am for registration and school gates will be closed at 8.50am. Any children arriving after this time will need to go through the school office. Please ensure your child arrives on time as the first half hour of the day is a very important time during which the teacher will introduce the day’s learning. Being late will put a child at a great disadvantage.

In the interests of safety it is important that the road and pavement immediately outside the school are kept clear. If waiting for your child please park well away from the yellow zig zag lines.

At the end of the day, children are collected from the main playground at 3.30pm and senior members of staff will be available in the playground. If you are going to be late for any reason please inform us as soon as possible so that we can make alternative arrangements until your arrival.

Each day has an assembly where children learn about the values, have an Inspirational Dream Catcher speaker, celebrate and share their learning and collective worship.

During lesson time, some subjects such as Maths, English, Greek and RE are taught separately.  Other subjects (Geography, History, Art, Design Technology and Computing) are taught during Topic sessions.

Children have a 15 minute play time every morning.  Lunch times are staggered for each year group. Play time and lunchtime staff are trained to support children’s play.  There are a wide range of activities for children to enjoy, such as skipping, reading, drawing, sports and chess. Each year group has a separate playtime and/or a separate area of the playground to play in.
