People who help us

This week we have been:

Learning about all the different people that help us. We read a story called ‘Career day’ which explained about lots of different jobs we can do when we grow up. We are going to be looking at all different jobs that we can do when we are older over the next few weeks. This week we focused on the builder, a few of us used the resources from the collage table to collage a builder.

Our rhymes this week were ‘The wheels on the bus’ and ‘Old MacDonald had a farm’. We have been using the resources to help us sing the songs together, we hope you enjoy singing them in your rhyme books this week.

In maths this week we have been learning about the names and properties of 2-D shapes. We spoke about what they look like and how to draw them and the children have had fun matching pictures in puzzles to different 2-D shapes. We have also been making 2-D shapes using the cutters on the play-dough table and making 2-D shape moulds in the wet sand. We have also been learning about the number six using the Numberblocks.

In science this week we have been learning about fast and slow. We used the marble run in the water trays inside and outside to demonstrate fast and slow, we also took fast and slow to the hall and explored racing fast and racing slow.

In RE this week we have been learning about the festival of Diwali. We watched and read the story of ‘Rama and Sita’, we learnt a Diwali dance, we drew henna patterns on hands, we made rangoli patterns and we made our own diva lamps. we will be sending these home with the children on Monday, we hope you enjoy them.

This week we have been learning about ourselves, our bodies and knowing we can say NO! We watched nspcc’s Pantosaurus and read the book ‘Pants’. We know if someone asks to see our pants we should say NO and tell someone we trust.  We had fun designing our own pant pictures.

Next week we will be:

  • Learning about the people who help us in the supermarket.
  • Learning about coins that you would use in a supermarket.
  • Writing our own shopping lists.
  • Learning about remembrance.

Parent consultations have now been rescheduled for Wednesday, the 6th of November please ensure you book your appointment.

Please ensure that the children are changing their books on a regular basis, it’s very important for the children to hear stories and develop story language.

Thank you for all your support Mrs Herne  and Mrs Cini
