Fantasy

This week we have been:

Exploring our fantasy topic with a story about a little girl who was travelling home. The story was called ‘On the way home’, the girl had a very good imagination! She made up lots of different stories to tell her friends about how she got her bad knee, we made up our own parts of the story and thought about what might happen to us on our way home.

In maths this week we have been thinking about money. We have been looking at the numbers on coins we have been sorting them out. We have been finding the coins on the chart. We have also be using the one penny coins and counting how many we need to buy items from the shop.

In RE this week we have been learning about Father’s Day. We have had lots of fun making our Father’s Day cards for the male figures in our lives, they look after us and care for us. We have also really enjoyed our Pentecost learning this week. We have been making the Holy Spirit and learning all about how God sent the Holy Spirit to the disciples. We learn why he did it and what it was for. The flame and the dove are symbols of the Holy spirit.

We have been learning about how to be bright and be seen when we are near the road. We have been thinking about the kind of clothes that we should be wearing and the reflective strips that might be on our bags and clothes. We explored some reflective tape and Mrs Herne gave us a reflective shape for our bags, please move these onto your coats or any where you feel might be more useful. It’s important to make sure that we can be bright and be seen especially at night time when it is darker.

Next week we will be

  • Continuing our fantasy topic with a story about superheroes!
  • Learning about symmetry.
  • Re-visiting our caterpillar and butterfly topic.
  • Learning about the Sikh faith.

Please ensure that the children always have a rain coat when they are in school. Although the weather is getting sunny it can still be a bit chilly and rainy when the children are outside especially at lunchtime. Rain coats would be great, they can stay in the children’s bags or on their pegs.

Please ensure that you keep the children’s homework, rhyme books and reading the books coming in over the last few weeks. It’s really important especially now before the children go into reception that they can do as much learning as possible to prepare them for reception.

We will be sending home the children’s beanstalks this week, we hope you enjoy growing them at home. Please keep us updated on how they are doing!

Thank you for your support Mrs Herne,  Mrs Cini and Mrs Woode
