Transport

This week we have been:

Revisiting all modes of transport. We have been exploring all the transport in the sky on the land and in the water.  We have been thinking about which mode of transport we would like to use to take us to school. We read the story ‘Emergency’,  this book explored all modes of transport and especially the ones we need to use when it is an emergency. The children explored these vehicles in the Sand tray.

Our rhyme this week was ‘Horsey horsey’, the children have been building homes for horses and we also sang this song during music and put musical instruments to the song. We hope you enjoy exploring this rhyme in the children’s rhyme books over half term.

In maths this week we have been thinking about some of our 2-D shapes. We went on a shape hunt in the classroom, we were looking for stars, hearts, ovals and semicircles. The children found all of the hidden shapes in the classroom and were able to name them. We have also been re-visiting numbers 11 to 15 that we have been learning this term using the Numberblocks.

In science this week we have been exploring near and far. We watched Kit and Pup demonstrate what near and far was we then used all three Gruffalo teddies to demonstrate near and far.

This week we finished our creation story by learning about how God made all living things. We had lots of fun putting the living things on our Gods creation scene. We sorted the animals into the environments they live in.

We have been celebrating Valentine’s Day this week. The children have been making special cards, have been making heart biscuits on the playdough table and exploring hearts in the water tray using heart containers. We have been talking a lot about people that we love.

After half term we will be:

  • Learning about dinosaurs focusing on dinosaur behaviour and their features.
  • Counting using the book 10 little dinosaurs.
  • Learning about Baptism and the Baptism of Jesus.
  • Thinking about what helps keep us safe at home and at school.
