Dinosaurs – Eggs

This week we have been:

Learning about eggs and which animals hatch from eggs. We read the story ‘Tom and the dinosaur egg’, Tom went on a journey to find a home for the dinosaur he found on the beach. We have been making patterns on eggs and exploring different textures.

This week we have been counting how many eggs are in our basket. We spoke about which number was bigger, which one was smaller and which one had the most and which one had the least.

In RE this week we learnt about the Baptism of Jesus. We were roleplaying baptism in the water tray with the babies and we baptised each other with a cross on our foreheads.  We know that Jesus was baptised in the River Jordan using special holy water. We know that this is what is used in church when people are baptised in church.

We have been thinking about rainbows over the past couple of weeks. We have made rainbow flowers using food colour and we have used felt pens to make rainbows in the water. This week we have been making a rainbow using skittles! We will continue next week. As it is science week this week our challenge was to make an umbrella, we have been exploring materials that would be suitable for an umbrella, we have been talking about waterproof and not waterproof we had fun exploring these in the water tray.

We were very lucky this week to have had a special science workshop in the hall. He had lots of fun watching things pop and making fire!

Next week we will be:

  • Learning about what dinosaurs eat.
  • Exploring size.
  • Learning about the Annunciation of Theotokos.
  • Starting to learn the sounds of the alphabet.
  • Continuing our learning about rainbows and making an umbrella.
