Fantasy – Mermaids and Pirates
Over the past two weeks we have been:
We have been exploring fantasy tales by reading ‘Peter Pan’ and exploring different stories with mermaids in them. We have had lots of fun pretending to be pirates and mermaids. We have enjoyed all areas of our classroom, we have been writing about where we would travel to if we could fly.

In math’s we have been exploring combining two numbers by using ladybirds. We drew the spots on a ladybird and then we counted how many were altogether. We have also been counting using jewels in a treasure chest and how many mermaids you can fit on a rock.
In science we have been exploring heavy and light by using full and empty in the water tray. We have also been exploring swirling winds and we have been making sandcastles using wet sand in the sand tray.

In RE we have been reading stories from the Bible they were stories about Jesus. We read the story ‘Jesus heals a man’ and ‘Jesus walks on water’. We have been exploring these stories during our creative learning.

We have been thinking about our move to reception. We have visited a new class and our new teacher. We have also been thinking about how we feel about going into a new class, we have been using the zones of regulation to talk about the different feelings we might feel when we go into a new class in September.
We really enjoyed our class trip to Godstone farm. The children got to meet lots of different animals, they got to meet and touch some of the farms smaller animals. We had a lovely lunch on the grounds the children then had lots of fun playing in the playground before we made our way home.

We also had our class party today, the children really enjoyed themselves they made their own sandwiches and chose the food they would like to eat. We also played past the parcel and musical chairs we also did lots of dancing.

Please note that we will finish for the summer on Tuesday, the 22nd of September the nursery will finish at 11:50am on this day the rest of the school will finish at one at 2:15pm.
