Traditional tales
This week we have been:
Learning the story ‘Goldilocks and the three bears’. We have been retelling the story using masks and figures. We have been using the story language to re-tell our own stories. We have also been writing letters from Goldilocks to the three bears to say sorry for everything she did in their home.

This week we have had lots of fun with ‘The very hungry Caterpillar’ story. We have made our own very big caterpillar using the creative materials and we have also made our own caterpillars using the sponges and the paints. Please come and see them displayed in our class! We have also been growing our own caterpillars and they have finally turned into cocoons! We are now waiting to see what the next stage will be.

In maths this week we were thinking about size. We were linking big, medium and small to big bear, mummy bear and baby bear. We were thinking about the things they use when they are at the table, we sorted them out together and spoke about the sizes of the objects. We really enjoyed making beds for the bears using the building blocks.

In RE this week we learnt about how Jesus loves me. We learnt about how much Jesus loves us and how he shows us his love. We also sang a song called ‘Jesus loves me’ and we made our own badges that we then go home.

We have been thinking about being kind and unkind this week. We spoke about Goldilocks and what she did that was kind and unkind. We then sorted pictures into kind and unkind. This learning will continue next week.

We were very lucky this week we had a visit from the dental nurses. They spoke to us about keeping our teeth healthy, what we need to do and why it’s important to keep our teeth clean. We also practiced cleaning the pretend teeth using the pretend toothbrush!

In science this week we have been learning about hot and cold we will and we were able to demonstrate this with the lovely warm weather that was outside. We spoke about things that you would eat and use when it’s hot and when it’s cold.
This week we also took part in our science fair, we had lots of fun making it rain and exploring if our materials are waterproof and not waterproof!

Next week we will be:
- Learning about the three Billy goats gruff.
- Exploring size and length using a story called Barty’s scarf.
- Learning about Islam.
- Learning about over and under.

As you are aware May 21st will be our traditional tales day. We would like the children to come to school dressed as a character from a traditional tale, please come and see us if you need any help with this.
Thank you for your support Mrs Herne Mrs Cini and Mrs Woode
