Dinosaurs – What do they eat?

This week we have been:

This week we read a story called ‘Tyrannosaurus drip’, it was all about what dinosaurs eat. We learnt that some dinosaurs eat meat and some dinosaurs eat veg. We have been exploring this in the writing area and drawing pictures of the food that dinosaurs might eat. We finished our dinosaur rhyme this week by learning about the stegosaurus and triceratops we hope you’ve had great fun reading these in your rhyme book with the children.

In phonics this week we have started learning the sounds of the letters. This week some of the children focused on the sounds m and a and some of the children focused on m, a, s and d. We are sending home a worksheet so the children can continue this learning at home.

In maths this week we have been thinking about different sized food linked to what dinosaurs might eat. We focused on big, medium and small. We have also been learning the number 19 using the Numberblocks.

In RE this week we have been learning about the Annunciation of Theotokos. We looked at the icon and spoke about the picture. The picture shows the angel going to Mary and telling Mary that she was going to have a baby. This baby would be the son of God and he would be born at Christmas this is why we celebrate Christmas.

In science this week we have continued with our rainbow learning. We used baking powder and vinegar to make our own fizzy rainbows. We have also been focusing on waterproof and not waterproof. We have been making our own umbrella and thinking about which materials we should use, we have been testing them in the water and then we made an umbrella using the materials that worked.

This week we have finished our learning about dinosaurs by going on a dinosaur hunt at Crystal Palace park. We spotted all the dinosaurs on the list and had a great time walking around the lake. We will be sending home our dinosaur learning this week, we hope you enjoy sharing this learning with your children at home.

Next week we will be

  • Starting our learning about the Easter story and Holy Week.
  • Continuing and learning about 2-D shapes.
  • Exploring capacity in the water.
