Transport

This week we have been:

This week we have been learning about transport you find on the land. We read the story called ‘The Train ride’, it was about a journey on a train to the beach. The children drew pictures of what they might see from a window and they added windows to their pictures. We have also been making our own trains and cars.

Our rhyme this week was ‘Down by the station’. We hope you enjoy exploring this rhyme at home and we look forward to seeing your train pictures when the rhyme books come back to school. We really enjoyed using musical instruments while singing the song.

In maths this week we have been re-visiting 2-D shapes. We have been exploring shapes on trains and making repeated patterns, we also made our own patterns using colours. We also learnt the number 13 with the Number blocks.

In science this week we have been exploring steep and flat. We watched a video with ‘Kit and Pup’ and then we explored flat and sleep ourselves using the boards and the building blocks. We had lots of fun exploring how many blocks would make our board steep, we also had fun finding out which car went the fastest and slowest. We also took steep and flat into the hall for PE, we used the benches and tables and learnt how to travel on them safely.

In RE this week we continued our learning about how God made the world. We have now learnt how God made the sky and how god made the land. We have been adding the features of the land to our own RE picture.

Next week we will be:

• Learning about and celebrating Chinese New Year.
• Exploring Chinese New Year in all areas of our class.
• Learning about The Three Hierarchs.
