Dinosaurs
This week we have been:
Learning about dinosaurs. We read the story dinosaur chase. it was about all the different things that dinosaurs could do and how they behave, we then designed our own dinosaur. This week we have been focusing on the Tyrannosaurus rex, we have been making our own Tyrannosaurus rex is on the creative table and we have been painting and sticking in lots of different ways. We also received a parcel this week and we are making our own dinosaur statues and hatching an egg! We hope you enjoy learning our T-Rex rhyme from this week, it’s one part of our dinosaur rhyme/song over this half term.

This week we have been counting using the stories ’10 little dinosaurs’ and ‘Hideasaurus’. We have been counting up to 10 and then back again. We have also been learning the number 16 using the Numberblocks.
In science this week we have been learning about Spring Time. We have been talking about what happens during spring and the kind of weather that we might get during spring time, we have been exploring things that grow a new life.

In science this week we have been exploring different ways of making rainbows! We have been trying to make white flowers turn rainbow colours by using food colouring and water. We are watching them to see what happens!

In RE this week we have been learning about clean Monday. We celebrate clean Monday at the start of Lent and we celebrate by flying kites the children made their kites next week.

This week we read the story ‘Dinosaur roar’. There were lots different words to describe the dinosaurs, we then used our zones of regulation display to talk about which zone we think the dinosaurs were in.

Next week we will be:
- Continuing our learning about dinosaurs in the night time, we will be exploring what ‘nocturnal’ is.
- Exploring nighttime animals.
- Learning about the Pterodactyl dinosaur.
- Counting lots of different things in our classroom and writing the numbers.
- Re-visiting Road safety
Messages home
Home learning – As you are aware we send home home-learning and rhyme books each week. We are finding that not many home-learning sheets are being returned to school so we are unsure if the children are doing the activities we are sending home. We have noticed some of the sheets have been left in the children’s bags and not completed. We may need to review if we are going to send home these sheets if we do not see home-learning being returned.
We would like the children’s rhyme books returned to school by Wednesday each week, however this is also not happening and we are having to ask for the books so we can add the new rhyme. Please ensure the children’s books are returned by Wednesday each week. Each rhyme sheet has been left black and white so you can colour it in at home.
Thank you for your support Mrs Herne, Mrs Cini and Mrs Woode
