Year 5, week ending 17.10.25
English
This week we began a new unit; poetry and short stories. In our first lessons, we explored the text; highlighting our initial thoughts about the book and commenting on the author’s style. As the week progressed, we revisited features linked to narrative poetry and used these devices to create poetry around the story’s themes.
Maths
This week we began a unit on multiplication and division. We deepened our understanding of multiples, common multiples, factors and common factors.
RE
This week we looked into how different faith and non faith communities look after the environment, as part of our Big Questions focus this term. We also explored how faith and belief guide individuals in their daily life.
Science
This week, we explored the factors that affect dissolving, including investigating how temperature impacts the time taken to dissolve.
Next week…
Maths – We will move onto; prime numbers, square numbers and cube numbers.
English – Short stories around the themes from ‘The Tree and The River’
