Zakynthos Class Home learning – Week Ending 12.12.25

Dear parents, Carers,

In English this week, we have been focusing on building their comprehension skills. The children have been given a selection of comprehension text to work on to develop the relevant skills.

In Maths, we have completed the unit of multiplication and division. We looked at Divide by 8, The 8 times-table and The 2, 4 and 8 times-tables.

In Science, the children planned an investigation using variables and looked at how and why things move differently on different surfaces. The children had to feel the surfaces to determine the roughness of the different materials (foil, sand paper, tea towel, cardboard and bubble wrap), and had to consider how much friction each material will create. They had fun, were excited and enjoyed the investigation.

In RE, we looked at the life of St Nicolas as it was his feast day on Saturday 6th December and our second lesson was on the Conception of the Virgin Mary as this is celebrated on the 9th December each year.

In PSHE, our topic a was about Who We Could Trust and we looked at why trust is an important part of positive relationships. The children had an Activity: ‘Who to trust?’  and they had to answer the questions, saying who they would trust to do the task or help them with it. Then we discussed about people who they think they cannot trust or would need to be careful about trusting (online or people they do not know etc). We also looked at ‘Respecting differences in others’. They children are aware that every person is unique and special no matter what their similarities or differences and that it is important to value, tolerate and embrace differences in ourselves and others.

Please find the home learning attached using the link below and we have also included a spelling sheet as extra support.
