Fantasy

This week we have been:

Reading the story ‘The troll’. The story was about a troll who wanted to eat something other than fish, it was also about pirates who wanted some treasure so they could buy a cookery book and cook some yummy food! The Pirates found the troll and everyone was happy. We drew pictures of all the treasures that we think might be in our treasure chests. Our rhyme this week was all about the troll and the Billy goats who wanted to find green grass, we hope the children enjoy reading these at home!

In math’s this week we have had lots of fun exploring the weighing scales. We have been thinking about heavy, light and balance. We have been using our arms to demonstrate. When we were using the scales we put an item in one side we then use the blocks to try and balance the item, some of us were very good at it! We also explored heavy and light kit and pup this week.

In RE this week we have been learning the bible story ‘Jonah and the whale’. It’s very important to listen to God and apologise when we do something wrong, we have been making whale pictures using our feet and have been making Jonah’s for the picture using matchsticks.

We read the story ‘Coming to England’ this week. It was all about a family who travelled on a boat to come to England, they found that the people in England were not very friendly to start with but as they settled into their normal life everyone became friendly and they were excepted for who they were. We have been busy making our own boats this week using the recycled materials.

We really hope that you enjoyed our class assembly this week, the children have been working really hard and they really do love the Gruffalo story. Thank you to everyone that was able to make it and show their support for their children.

Last week we had so much fun chopping up the vegetables that we decided we would chop up some more this week. We were using the children’s knives to cut up cucumber and celery. The children had great fun using their chopping skills to chop up the vegetables for snack time.

Next week we will be

  • Continuing our fantasy learning by reading the story ‘Peter Pan’.
  • Continue in our learning about capacity and weight.
  • Reading the Bible story ‘Jesus walks on water’
  • Going on our trip to Godtsone farm!

The children’s homework this week is a creative activity,  the children have chosen a picture that they need to cut out and then place it on the other piece of paper, they can use crayons or paints to create the designs, we will look forward to seeing these next week.

Wednesday, the 9th of July will be a school trip to Godstone farm. We do need to know numbers as soon as possible and what the children would like for their lunches, please ensure that you retain your sleep as soon as possible please.

Please can you ensure that you book your child in for the afternoon session. It makes it easier for everyone if we have all the children booked in.

Thank you for your ongoing support Mrs Herne,  Mrs Cini and Mrs Woode
