Christmas

This week we have been

Reading the Christmas nativity story. We have been learning that we celebrate Christmas day because it’s Baby Jesus’s birthday! We have been telling the story using the stable and the figures, we have been acting out the story using the masks, we have used the big book and the story cards to retell the story and we also watched the Christmas story video.

In phonics this week we have been focusing on alliteration, the children have enjoyed matching the pictures to the initial sounds from the board.

In maths this week we have been with reviewing the numbers 0 to 10. We watched Numberblocks, 10 green bottles and then we all practiced writing and matching the numbers one to 10.

This week we have also started our Christmas workshop. The children have been drawing pictures and making presents for people that they care for. They have then been putting them into boxes, wrapping them up and putting a special label on them ready for Christmas Day

Next week we will be

  • Continuing our Christmas learning, focusing on the Nativity.
  • Exploring the Gingerbread man.
  • Reviewing numbers 0 to 10 and 2-D shapes.
  • Preparing for our Nativity.

Friday the 13th December will be our early years nativity. We would like to remind you that we would like the children to wear black to school for that day, as plain black as she can get please. We aim to start at 9:30am we  hope you can make it! We will be sitting on the right side of the hall.

Thank you for your support Mrs Herne and Mrs Cini
