Fantasy
This week we have been:
We read the story ‘A wolf at the door’. This story was all about the traditional tales we were learning about from last half term. We have been telling our own stories in the sand tray. The story was about baby bear and all his friends. They all came running to his house because they thought a wolf was chasing them but the wolf just wanted to play. We drew pictures and write about who we think would be at the door. we drew lots of different characters and let our imagination go crazy! We have been observing our beanstalks growing on the window, we planted them and we are looking forward to watching them grow bigger!

Our rhyme this week was called ‘The lion and the unicorn’. It was all about a lion and a unicorn who were fighting over a crown. We made our own crowns and added lions and unicorns! We have had fun acting the 2 characters and making our crowns.

In maths this week we have been focusing on shape. We have been thinking about flat 2-D shapes and solid 3-D shapes. We have been using flat 2-D shapes to build solid 3-D shapes using the magnetic shapes and the large polydron. We have also been building our own towers using solid shapes and drawing pictures of flat shapes in the maths area and at the playdough table.

In science this week we explored open and close with Kit and Pup. They were trying very hard to pack a suitcase so they could go on holiday but they had too many things to pack in their case. They had to work out which items would fit and which items would not fit, they decided the best option was to sit on the case! Here is the video for you to watch at home, what can you find in your home that is open and closed?

- Reading the story ‘On my way home’.
- Exploring money.
- Learning about Pentecost.
- Learning about being bright and seen when we are by a road.
- Exploring inside and outside.
Messages home:
Children’s coats – We would like to ask that the children always have a coat when they are at school, if you like you could leave the coat on the children’s peg and if we need it it’s always there. As you know this weather is very unpredictable and we do not know whether it’s going to be hot, cold or rainy. We would like to be able to make sure that the children are comfortable whatever the weather.
Thank you for your support Mrs Herne, Mrs Cini and Mrs Woode
