Traditional tales
This week we have been:
This week we have been reading the story ‘The three Billy goats gruff’. We have had lots of fun retelling the story using the rhyming words ‘who’s that trip trapping over my bridge’. We have been using the story props to tell our own stories and we have been busy making bridges for the goats to use! We have enjoyed watching this video in class, we hope you enjoy it at home!

We also read a story this week called ‘Barty’s scarf’. It was all about a sheep called Barty who wore a scarf no matter what the weather or activity! He did a very kind thing and was a hero. We made sheep masks and explored different length scarfs with different size sheep and we were trying to find the perfect fit! We used the words longer and shorter.

Because we were thinking about bridges this week we also learnt about over and under. We had to think about size because we had to make sure something could go underneath it. Here is the video of Kit and pup exploring under and over.

In RE this week we have been learning about Islam. We have learnt that if you follow the Islamic religion you are called a Muslim, you may wear a hijab and you go to a mosque to pray. We also learnt that when you pray you do not wear your shoes as your prayer has to be clean. We have been exploring the symbol for Islam we been making our own star and moon pictures.

This week we also went to Samos’s class assembly. We learnt about keeping the oceans clean so that the animals can live happily and be safe. We then explored what would happen if plastic bags and bottles were in our water tray! Some of us helped rescue the animals and took all the plastic out of the sea. We also watched a video by Nick Cope which helped us to understand.
