Zakynthos Class – Week Ending 10.10.25

Good afternoon Parents and Carers,

This week in English, the children focused on creating their own poem called ‘The Magic Box’. They had to create, assess, edit, add, improve and then they rewrote their amazing poem into a final copy.

In Maths, the children continued with the unit ‘Addition and Subtraction’. They focused on adding 1s across a 10, adding 10s across 100 and spent a few days, so they could be secure in adding a 1-digit number to a 3-digit number using a number line.

In Science, the children focused on finishing off creating a model hand with working muscles so that they could visualise first-hand how the pulling of a tendon causes the bone to move and how muscles change shape to cause a movement.

In RE, we started the next unit,  Unit 2 and our first lesson was ‘To know that God wants parents to love their children’.  The children also looked at the Bible story of Mary and Joseph and their love for Jesus and answered questions based on the story. Before they answered the question why do they think God wants parents to love their children, we had a discussing about it and they answered with, love helps children feel safe and happy. When parents love their children, they take care of them, help them grow, and teach them right from wrong. God loves everyone, and He wants families to show love just like He does.
