International Greek Language Day 9.2.25

INTERNATIONAL  GREEK LANGUAGE DAY- 9th of February

On the 10th of February 2025, we proudly celebrated International Greek Language Day, a day dedicated to honouring the richness, history, and cultural significance of the Greek language. The event aimed to deepen pupils’ appreciation for the language that has shaped literature, science, philosophy, and the Orthodox Christian faith for thousands of years.

The celebration featured a variety of activities prepared by the pupils, highlighting both the beauty and historical depth of the Greek language. Pupils across various year groups recited ancient and modern Greek poems, shared traditional proverbs, and presented short theatrical plays that demonstrated the evolution of the language from antiquity to the present.

The celebration was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including a delegation from the Greek Embassy in the United Kingdom, led by Mr. Christos Goulas, Greek Consul, as well as the Trustees of St Nicholas Preparatory School in Ghana, who were warmly welcomed by staff and pupils alike.

International Greek Language Day at St. Cyprian’s Greek Orthodox Primary Academy was not only a joyful celebration, but also an inspiring reminder of the enduring legacy and importance of the Greek language in our world today.
