Ithaca Class week ending 04.04.25
This week in Ithaca…
In Maths, the children explored full, half and quarter turns, using the language of clockwise and anticlockwise. Also, the children were able to classify angles as acute and obtuse. The children recognised that when a turn is completed, an angle is created. The children understood that for a quarter turn, this angle is called a right angle. The children also understood that any angle that is less than a right angle is called an acute angle and any angle greater than a right angle, but less than a half turn, is called an obtuse angle.
In Religious Education, the children were able to explore and connect the concept of forgiveness, mercy, and love for others to love for Christ and discussed specific ways to live in a preparation for Christ. The children were able to recognise that Jesus’ sacrifice gives life to us and that His suffering reveals His understanding for our challenges. Furthermore, the children were able to interpret expressions of the paradox of Jesus’ full divinity and humanity and reflected and discussed ways that we can share the joy of Jesus’ resurrection with others.
In Music, the children were able to verbalise feelings about music and identify likes and dislikes. The children read musical notations and played the correct notes of ‘the rag’. The children also were able to improvise along to a drone and tal, play a rag and a tal accurately alongside a drone and sing accurately from musical notation and lyrics.
