Samos (Year 5)- Week ending 02.10.26
Year 5 have enjoyed a productive and creative week across all subjects.
In English, the children published their final non‑chronological reports, each one based on a mythical creature they designed themselves. They focused on key report features such as clear subheadings, factual language and detailed diagrams. They also began a new unit on writing to entertain, exploring imaginative narrative techniques.
In maths, the class started a new unit on addition and subtraction, using mental strategies to work confidently with whole numbers over four digits.
In RE, the children completed their unit by learning about key dates in the Orthodox calendar, gaining insight into how different traditions mark important moments.
In science, Year 5 carried out an investigation into solutions, testing substances to see which dissolve, which are soluble, and which are insoluble.
Home Learning
Year 5 are continuing to build their focus, and regular home revision — practising their maths strategies and revisiting recent English learning — will help strengthen their confidence and keep them progressing well. Thank you for supporting their learning at home.
