Spetses Week ending 24.01.25
This week…
In English, the children focused on using the ‘Rule of 3’ to write a setting description. They considered using an appositive to describe a character and were able to write the beginning and build-up of the story. Furthermore, the children were able to add tension and detail to their story.
In Maths …
Year 4, the children learnt about dividing by 10 and 100. They were able to notice the link between dividing by 10 and dividing by 100 and visualised making a number one-hundredth the size and recognised that “one-hundredth the size” is the same as “dividing by 100”. Furthermore, the children explored related facts for multiplication and division and used informal written methods for multiplication.
Year 3, the children continued the multiplication unit; Multiplying a 2-digit number by a 1-digit number – with exchange, linking multiplication and division, dividing a 2-digit number by a 1-digit number – no exchange and we begun to explore using flexible partitioning
In Geography, the children conducted some fieldwork research in our local woodland. They used a tally chart and a questionnaire to find out how the woodlands was used. They will use this information to create a presentation and to present their findings.
