Week eneding 18/10/24 – Happy half term!
Over Autumn 1 in English we have covered a Hidden figures, The Highway man and already started Carrie’s war (our text for Autumn 2). Using these texts to create diary entries, recounts, poetry and adapted stories.
In Maths we have worked at securing our understanding of place value, division and multiplication. We have also practised our arithmetic skills trying to increase our pace at answering questions accurately.
In Science, we have covered classification of living things. looking at how we breakdown and categories the animal and plant kingdoms, as well as the importance of Micro-organisms and what differentiates them.
We have much to look forward to for Autumn 2!
We did a mock SATs week this week to see where the gaps are going forward. We know some of the children were disappointed with their scores but we want to stress that we did not expect everyone to do amazingly, we have much still to cover. This was for us teachers to understand what historical gaps there might be.
You will have received a letter today about an offer on CGP book sets that we have a discount for. This would help the children to consilidate knwoeldge and prepare them for their SATs as much as possible. Please see parentpay on how to purchase.
Half-term homelearning:
Review SATS papers that have been sent home and identify any individual areas of development you would like to practice further in the next half-term.
Have a lovely break!
