Year 5 week ending 21.11.25
English
This week we focused on using expanded noun phrases and relative clauses to describe settings. We also created a main character for our stories based on ‘The Promise’. This led into a planning lesson, where we began to plot our stories.
Maths
This week, in the unit on fractions we focused on converting improper fractions to mixed numbers, converting mixed numbers to improper fractions, Comparing fractions less than 1 and ordering fractions less than 1.
RE
This week, the children explored how New Testament announces Christ. We also focused on the celebration of the Entry of the Theotokos into the temple.
Science
In this week’s lesson, we began to explore the thermal and electrical conductivity of materials.
Next week…
Maths – Unit on fractions; ordering fractions less than 1 and comparing and order fractions greater than 1, adding and subtracting fractions with the same denominator and adding fractions within 1.
English – reviewing planning, drafting, editing and publishing a story.
