Year 5 – Weekending 12.06.26

English

This week, we finished our video adverts and then moved on to our new unit on poetry. Our class text is Cloud Busting by Malorie Blackman. It is a very interesting novel, written entirely in verse.

Maths
This week, we completed the final step in our decimals unit, focusing on dividing by 10, 100, and 1,000. We then began a new unit on negative numbers.

Science
This week, we started a new unit called Human Timeline. In our first lesson, we explored the different developmental stages and key milestones in the human life cycle.

RE

In the first RE lesson this week, we reflected on the events of Pentecost and how the Holy Spirit helped the Apostles. We recognised that this marked the beginning of the Church.

In the second lesson, we began the unit The Church Grows in the World. We studied the life of St Ignatius and the role of the Bishop in helping the Church grow through unity and courage. This was a meaningful continuation following our observation of the feast of Pentecost and the birth of the Church.

History
This week, we began our unit on the Tudors, focusing on different representations of Henry VIII. We evaluated a range of sources and considered the reliability of each one.
