Zakynthos Class Home Learning – Week ending 05.12.25

Dear Parents, Carers,

In English this week, we completed the unit and the children focused on planning, preparing their own Non-Chronological Report on an Incredible Job. They spent time writing different sub-headings to do with the chosen job, edited, rehearsed their sentences, proof read and shared with a peer feedback.

In Maths, we continued with Multiplication and Division. The children focused on The 3 times-table, Multiply by 4, Divide by 4, The 4 times-table and Multiply by 8.

In Science, we continued with the unit ‘Friction’. We looked at how and why things move differently on different surfaces and planned an investigation using variables. The children planned to measure the effects of friction (slowing down or stopping moving objects) as friction itself is challenging to measure. They had to feel the surfaces to determine the roughness of the different materials (the ramp was counted as a material) and were encouraged to consider how much friction each material will create. They were allowed to test the materials, starting with the material they predicted will create the most friction and ending with the material they predicted will create the least amount of friction.

In RE, we focused on The Significance of the Theotokos Entrance to the temple. They children had to recall what happened when the Theotokos (Mary) entered the temple and understood why this event was important to Greek Orthodox Christians. They also labelled the important icons in a picture that showed Mary entering the temple with her parents, maidens and Zachariah blessing her.

Please find the home learning attached using the link below and we have also included a spelling sheet as extra support.
