Zakynthos Class Home Learning – Week ending 06.02.26
Dear Parent, Carer,
In English, this week the children first focused on deciding which job they would like to apply for and began planning their persuasive speech. They drafted their introduction to their persuasive speech, ensuring that it captured attention and they also learnt how to use future tense effectively in the main body of their speech to make a promise and persuade the audience.
In Maths, we completed the unit ‘Length and Perimeter’, with our focus on Subtract lengths, What is perimeter?, Measure perimeter and Calculate perimeter. They children also had a ‘Numbers Fun day’, focused on a variety of number activities.
In RE, the children learnt about the ‘Presentation of the Lord going to the Temple’. This story in the Bible talks about how Mary and Joseph took Jesus to the Temple in Jerusalem as an infant child and a man called Simeon was promised that he would see Jesus, the Messiah before he would die. So Simeon was able to hold Jesus and gave thanks to God. There was a woman called Anna, who never left the Temple, saw Jesus, gave thanks to God and went around telling everybody about the child.
In PSHE, the lesson was based on ‘Resilience: Breaking Down Barriers’. The children had to think of a goal that they found challenging to achieve and we talked about how big problems feel smaller when we break them into steps and that every tiny step brings you closer to your goal. The children had to draw themselves as a Superhero and write down the things that they were good at, which were their Superpowers, and how they would use those powers, strength to help others. Use your real superpowers – like kindness, bravery, and patience – to keep going!
Please find the home learning attached using the link below and we have also included a spelling sheet as extra support.
