Zakynthos Class Home Learning – Week Ending 12.06.26
Dear Parents, Carers,
In English, we started a new unit, ‘Narrative’ based on the book ‘The Iron Man’. The children focused on the character of the Iron Man, explored the use of descriptive language, looked at and wrote about the setting and the various parts of the Iron Man’s body.
In Maths, our new unit is ‘Shape’. The children focused on ‘Turns and Angles’, ‘Right Angles’ and ‘Compare Angles’.
In Science, our unit is called ‘Making Connections: Does hand span affect grip strength?’ The children have started to explore the relationship between hand span and grip strength in the first lesson. This unit will also consolidate prior knowledge and make connections through retrieving what they have learnt from the previous units.
In RE, the children talked and wrote what they knew about Pentecost which the Greek Orthodox Christians celebrated on Sunday 31st May 2026. We also started a new unit called ‘How do people communicate with God?’ and ‘What do different people believe about God?’ Our first lesson was about Prayer, why do people pray, the different types of prayers and the different ways people pray.
In PE, the children will be focusing on ‘Rounders’ and ‘Athletics’.
