Zakynthos Class Home Learning – Week Ending 23.01.26

Dear Parent, Carer,

In English, this week the children finished off  writing their wonderful, magical story. They read, edited and published it.

In Maths, they completed the unit on Multiplication and Division and started a new topic ‘Length and Perimeter’. The lessons that were taught were  ‘To be able to explore scaling’,  ‘To be able to describe how many different ways two groups of objects can be arranged’,  ‘To be able to measure length in centimetres and metres’ and ‘To measure centimetres and millimetres’.

In Science, we continued the unit Rocks and Soil and investigated different types of rock, focusing on their appearance, such as colour, grains, shiny, dull, had holes or crystals.

In RE, we continued with the unit ‘ Love Means Serving Others’ and looked at how Jesus wants us to serve all people. We focused on the parable of the Good Samaritan and they retold the story in their own words.

In PSHE, the next lesson was based on the different aspects of their identity and about being lonely. They created a mind map of things that they like doing and then wrote a lovely Kenning Poem using those words. We ended with them being reminded that they belong to many groups (family, school, clubs, friends). That their likes, skills, and roles shapes their identity, everyone is unique, and that’s special. Belonging to a group fosters happiness and reduces loneliness and that they are wonderful – just as you are!

Please find the home learning attached using the link below and we have also included a spelling sheet as extra support.
